The District has been awarded a $4 million low-interest loan from the Washington State Public Works Assistance Account, administered by the Public Works Board, to fund critical infrastructure improvements in the Cascade Vista neighborhood.
The Cascade Vista Phase I AC Replacement Project will replace approximately 5,900 linear feet of failing 4-inch, 6-inch, and 8-inch diameter asbestos-cement (AC) water main in Renton’s Cascade Vista neighborhood. The AC water main will be replaced with 4-inch and 8-inch diameter ductile iron (DI) water main. Work will include installation of new fire hydrants, miscellaneous valves, water service lines, and meter boxes from the new water main to the customer line, including tie ins. The project is anticipated to go to bid in Spring 2026, with construction starting in April.
“This award from the Public Works Board will allow Soos Creek Water and Sewer District to continue funding an aggressive water infrastructure improvement program that will meet local growth and housing needs while keeping rates affordable for customers. Ensuring the long-term reliability and resilience of our water distribution system is important and we’re grateful to our legislators and the State for continuing to support this mission by investing in local infrastructure.” - William Appleton, PE, General Manager
The District will provide an ongoing public outreach program before and during all construction activities to assist in minimizing disruptions and impacts to our customers.
