Cascade Vista 2 / Fowlers AC Pipe Replacement |
The design of this project is underway. The project will include the replacement of approximately 11,000 feet of old asbestos-concrete pipe at Cascade Vista 2 that was installed between 1953 and 1964 along with an additional 2200 feet of AC pipe in the Fowlers Addition that will improve water pressure to some of the residents. Along with the water main we will be replacing approximately 200 water services, 15 fire hydrants and misc. water valves.
System reliability will be improved by the by this project which is scheduled to begin in late summer 2012.

Lift Station 11B Replacement
We are currently in the bidding phase for the replacement of sewer Lift Station #11. The current station is located at 18401 SE Timberlane Blvd. in Covington, and was built in 1969 to convey sewage from what was then the south end of our District to the north. The new Lift Station 11B will be located just across the street to the north and use micro tunnel technology to route the sewage from the old station to the new one. The new facilities will include six submersible pumps, two generators, a new control building, surge facilities, air and liquid phase odor control, and a water quality detention pond.
Construction should begin in the summer of 2012 and conclude in the summer of 2013.

Lift Station 19 Abandonment and Gravity Sewer Installation |
Construction is complete on this project. The Sewer Lift Station at 134th Ave SE and approximately SE 267th St. was installed nearly 30 years ago as a temporary fix until a gravity sewer system could be installed. With the addition of 1200 feet of 8-inch gravity sewer and 5 manholes, the station was de-commissioned in the spring of 2012. |

Water Pump Station #2 Replacement
| |
This project included the demolition of the existing water Pump Station #2 which was located at 13113 SE 164th Street in Renton. The original pump station was built in 1962 and housed two 1000-gallons per minute pumps and very old and outdated electrical control systems. The new station includes a new building, three 3000-gallons per minute pumps, up-to-date electrical controls and alarm systems for better reliability and redundancy. The new station was put on line prior to the summer of 2011. |

Cascade Vista 3, Phase 2 / Bristow AC Pipe Replacement
This project replaced approximately 9,400 feet of 4-inch, 6-inch, and 12-inch Asbestos Concrete pipe with 8-inch and 12-inch ductile iron pipe. In addition, we replaced approximately 175 water services, valves and fire hydrants in the Cascade Vista and Bristow areas. The pipes were installed between 1953 and 1964 and had reached the end of their useful life. We had several breaks in the area and had inspected the pipe at numerous locations. We had determined that the pipe was soft and needed to be replaced.
This project was completed in the summer 2011.

Lift Station 5B Surge Tank Installation
The District completed the construction phase for the installation of surge facilities on our Lift Station 5B sewer forcemain. The principle items of work included the construction of a buried reinforced concrete shelter with metal roof and grating to house a sewage surge tank; pile foundation system; connection to an existing sewage force main; and construction of associated valves, fittings, buried air supply line, air compressor and associated electrical work.
The work was completed in early 2011.

Lake Desire Watermain Replacement and Low Pressure Sewer Installation
This project began construction in the June of 2008. The 6-inch and 8-inch asbestos concrete water main around the lake was installed in 1965; it was replaced with 8-inch ductile iron pipe, new water service lines, valves and fire hydrants. Along with this replacement, the District installed a low pressure grinder pump system to convey sewage to an existing gravity sewer system. Upon completion of this work the roads around the lake were overlaid.

South 208th Street AC Main Replacement |
This project replaced approximately 1,100 feet of 4-inch asbestos concrete pipe and approximately 7,550 feet of 6-inch asbestos concrete pipe in South 208th Street from 107th Ave SE to 96th Ave SE and some associated lines southwest of 108th Ave SE & South 208th Street. The pipes were installed in the late 1950’s and 1960’s and had reached the end of their useful life. We had several breaks in the area and determined that the pipe was soft and needed to be replaced. The 6-inch pipe on South 208th street was shown in our Comprehensive Plan to be increased to 12-inch and most of the associated lines were increased to 8-inch for better fire flow.
This project was completed in August of 2010.

Lift Station 5B Force Main Replacement
Deficiencies in the existing west sewer forcemain at the District’s Lift Station (LS) #5B necessitated replacement of the sewer forcemain. The existing 12-inch ductile iron forcemain was approximately 4,000 feet long and tied into a gravity system located in SE 196th Street. The deficiencies in the pipe include severe pitting at the bottom of the forcemain pipe, causing the pipe integrity to be compromised. The District decided to replace the 4,000 feet of existing sewer forcemain with 18-inch and 12-inch HDPE forcemain. The 18-inch HDPE sewer forcemain replacement started at existing LS #5B, then west in SE 198th Place, and then north in 124th Avenue SE to SE 196th Street. At that point, a 12-inch HDPE sewer forcemain extends west along SE 196th Street with connection to the existing gravity sewer manhole located west of 119th Avenue SE.
This project was completed in October 2009. |

Cascade Vista Phase 1 AC Main Replacement
This project replaced approximately 10,900 feet of 6-inch AC pipe with 8-inch ductile iron and approximately 300 feet of 4-inch AC pipe with 4-inch ductile iron, along with water services, valves, and fire hydrants in the Cascade Vista area. The pipes were installed between 1950 and 1961 and had reached the end of their useful life. We had several breaks in the area and had inspected the pipe at numerous locations. We determined that the pipe was soft and needed to be replaced.
This project was completed in spring 2010.
