Leak Adjustment Policy
- Only
faulty service lines will be considered for adjustments. A “service
line” is defined as the water line running from the water meter
to the house. See illustration below:
- Soos Creek Water and
Sewer District will adjust one bill, one time, every five years
at the customers request. The only exception to item #2 is if
the service line is replaced from the meter to the home as per
current plumbing code.
- This policy does not
include irrigation systems, toilets, hot water tanks or any
other plumbing inside or outside the house. Any piping connected
to the service line would not be considered for an adjustment.
- Adjustments will be
made at 50% of the total consumption. The base rate will not
be figured into the adjustment. Example: (Base rate) + (50%
x Consumption) = Adjusted Bill
- If the leak covers
more than one billing period then the adjustment would be given
on the higher consumption of the two bills.
- A field check will
be made to verify that the leak was repaired and to obtain the
current meter reading.
- In the case of a second
adjustment, documentation and/or an inspection must be provided
or made.
