Green
River Flooding Plan
The
District has experienced a significant increase in the number
of inquiries concerning how the potential Green River flooding
(Howard Hanson Dam) may affect our facilities. We hope this information
address your concerns.
None
of the District's facilities (Water or Sewer) are in the potential
flood area. We do not anticipate any direct flooding, we do anticipate
some indirect consequences if the valley were to flood. We have
one major concern: the possible interruption of reliable electrical
power.
All
of our facilities have back-up generators (either on-site or portable)
that will supply the stations with power should our normal power
supply be interrupted. We have installed additional fuel storage
capacity and increased our ability to move fuel to our pump stations
more rapidly. We believe these steps will enable us to manage
the power needs of the stations should the power be interrupted.
We
are also in the process of evaluating our staffing and transportation
capabilities.
We
believe we have taken the necessary steps to minimize any negative
effects to the District's facilities and we do not anticipate
any disruption of our services.
